General Information

I am employed as a Postdoctoral Research Assosciate in the Astronomy Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC), collaborating with You-Hua Chu. I received my Ph.D in Physics from the Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Oklahoma.

Research Interests

My recent work involved the study of the hot ionized medium (HIM) and diffuse interstellar medium (ISM) of galaxies. This includes the study of supernova remnants, superbubbles and supergiant shells. My work at UIUC has been focused on the Magellanic Clouds, two of the Milky Way's nearest neighbors. My studies are mainly confined to X-ray observations obtained by Chandra, XMM-Newton and Suzaku X-ray observatories.

I am also interested in the populations of compact source populations in nearby (< 10 Mpc) spiral galaxies. My doctoral work consisted mainly of radio observations obtained by the Very Large Array (VLA) in Socorro, NM. Using a variety of other telescopes, I am interested in providing a complete multiwavelength view (from radio to X-ray) of these sources. These include supernovae, supernova remnants, H II regions, X-ray binaries, and in many cases, background AGNs.

My CV can be viewed here(PDF), and here(HTML).

Teaching

Most of my teaching experience was in the from of recitation courses at OU. In the summer sessions, I was given full adminstrative resposibilities for the teaching of lecture courses in Physics.

General Physics Laboratory

Calculus-based Physics I (Mechanics)

Calculus-based Physics II (Electrodynamics, Optics)

Guest Lectures in Introductory Astronomy and Junior Level Observatory Methods

Public Outreach

Not much done in Illinois, yet. As a graduate student in Oklahoma, I did participate in some outreach activities:
Assisted with public observing in the "Friday Night at the Observatory" series.
Delivered a Public Lecture on the history of Radio Astronomy in the same lecture series.
Public Lecture on Mars at Southern Oaks Library in Oklahoma City, OK.
Delivered a series of four lectures to Elementary School teachers as part of "We`ve Always Looked Up" by the Oklahoma Alliance for Geographic Education (OKAGE).
