Canis Major (the Larger Dog), Canis Major
lies to the left, or east, of Orion, which is
on the right-hand side of the picture. The bright star left of center
is Sirius. Down and to the right is Mirzam, while much dimmer Muliphein
is up and to the left. The triangle down and to the left of Sirius
is composed (clockwise from the left) of Aludra, Wezen,
and bright Adhara. Omicron-1 lies directly between Wezen and Sirius,
while Omicron-2 is just down and to the right (to the west of)
Omicron-1.
Sirius is at the southern apex of the
Winter Triangle.
