Honors For Illinois Astronomy Professors

The astronomy department would like to recognize
the honors recently bestowed on several of its young faculty members:

Charles Gammie, a
professor of astronomy and of physics, recently received the
Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the
nation's highest award for young research professionals.

Joe Mohr, also a
professor of astronomy and of physics, was recently awarded the
Bok Prize by his PhD alma mater, Harvard University, for outstanding
contributions to astrophysics. Congratulations, Professor Mohr!

Paul Ricker, who
joined the University of Illinois this fall as a professor
of astronomy and a research scientist at NCSA, has also received the
Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.

Congratulations Excellent Astronomy Teachers
The Astronomy Department would like salute our professors and
teaching assistants who were named to the Spring 2002
Incomplete List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent. Our
congratulations to Prof. James Kaler, Prof. Joe Mohr, Prof. Telemachos
Mouschovias, and TA Michelle Griffin for their recognition on the
